This book convinced me we shouldn’t let men write books.

I'll give this 2 stars instead of 1 because I guess I can see the appeal, but it's just not for me. I admit I only read the first 20% and then barely skimmed the rest. The reading experience here is like listening to a friend's breathless account of some life-changing trip he's just come back from. You want to be like "hey, good for you buddy but please stop talking"

Wrong book to start this year. I abandoned it as I never force myself to finish a book that I do not enjoy.
I don’t know whether the hype about “On the Road” is overrated or simply I do not understand at all the lifestyle represented in it.
Boring, messy and (to me) nonsense.

I've been told that Kerouac sat down on a typewriter and wrote this whole book on an endless roll of paper, and I could feel it as I read. At no point does he pause, it's constant movement and happenings. Though I have yet to finish the entire book, it is interesting. Unfortunately it is being made into a feature-length film relatively soon and that will probably not live up to the book....
