hm. i don’t really have any strong feelings about this book. i feel like normally the more i read a book, the more invested i get, but it took until i was about 2/3 of the way through this one to feel invested at all. it was just kind of fine. honestly, my favorite part about it is that i got this book second hand and it’s signed by the author for someone named gary.

What a weird and great book. The dialogue is so unusual and striking. Everyone speaks in this odd, straightforward way that took me aback but also was so transporting in a story that is fundamentally about how bad decisions reverberate through a family and about the inevitability of love and betrayal.

I like this book. I read it on a "light" level and I am looking forward to examining it more when I meet my book club on the 9th
