i have read so many of these in the last 2 months and this was by far the worst of that whole group, i cannot believe the last book ended with the most brutal battle in this entire series, and then this was like a buddy cop with the two that were just enemies. the motivations are not strong enough for that quick of a change!!! also why are there two cats named one eye in a world where theres a million name possibilities

me omw to catch up on reading challenge

A very complex and well-written book that does a good job of following up on the events of The First Battle. Clear Sky's perspective in this book was MUCH needed and added a lot to the book and though the interactions between Thunder and Star Flower sometimes felt like they were written weirdly, they add to Thunder's character arc rather well.

Never thought certain cats would be redeemed enough for me to root for them, but here we are.

Even more worldbuilding and battles, but also more mother she cats being killed off. This series is one I enjoy for the worldbuilding but it won't ever be my favorite because of that problem. Several plottwists were easy to see, but this is a middle grade book so I can't say anything negative about that.
