I love leigh bardugo’s writing so much!!!!!! I waited so long to read this book bc i didnt want to end the grishaverse. But wowowowowowow, i truly truly did not expect all the plot twists in the book. I love the characters sosososososo much ❤️
ending: it hurts my heart how the “king” and “shu” princess were falling in love with each other and at the end their country was more important. They both felt like frauds 😭😭. Also super mega plot twist how tf is the darkling back blud just cant stay down. Hopefully Alina makes an appearance in the next book 0-0.

“She was perfect before, thought Nina. Or would have been if you hadn’t pruned and plucked at her like and overeager gardener trying to mould an unruly shrub”
-
Nikolai is trying to hold the Ravka throne whilst fighting the monster within. Zoya believes Nikolai needs a bride as their relationship begins to change. Nina is undercover and trying to save Grisha. And that twist.
-
I’m rating this so low because it felt like it was wading through mud. It was slow and I expected more Nikolai. The stories between him and Nina were so separated that it was slightly hard to maintain interest. During all of this the twist at the end knocked me. Why. Why did what I consider a bad book have its claws out so I read the next?!
