I really enjoy the way the author makes it so easy to figure out what happened and then WAM, you're wrong! I found this book enjoyable and easy to read, although, the first book was a much quicker read, she still did a fantastic job pulling me in and wanting to read more about Cormoran Strike and his trusty sidekick. Great read!

Love love love this series! This is my 2nd time reading this one and it only got better. The cases are interesting and original, and the character relationships keep me coming back. Strike and Robin are great characters who are really fun to follow. I’m reading through the series again since the 5th installment comes out soon. Can’t wait for it!

I actually liked this one much better than the first book - it still had that same mysterious feel to it, but it kinda felt like JK finally managed to really channel her inner detective/killer in this one. I'm curious to see what the next book in the Strike series'll bring us.

Having said that, the 'Strike told Robin everything and she gasped but the audience can't know it yet' technique is getting a tiny bit old. Sure, I get it, you want to surprise your readers at the end, but somehow it feels a little bit too amateur-like for my taste. I think Harlan Coben does it better.

Anyhow, the story was actually quite good and a little bit disturbing. I definitely liked it.

A solid detective story with clever digs at writers and the publishing industry--not quite as gripping as The Cuckoo's Calling, but Rowling does characters so well you don't have to read it for the investigative angle. I'm eager to read more involving the Robin and Cormoran duo.

Comfort read, tainted by the author. Not my fav but I do love the characters. Although they're being overly stretched out these days.
