I liked this one, but I was expecting historical fiction and not magical realism. Still, I enjoyed not just the plot, but also Coates's writing.

This was a beautifully written book. It create very clear images of the times and places in the slave holding south. The idea of conduction and it's description where great but the problem for me was it never went anywhere! I was SO SO bored at times that I almost gave up. I would have liked to have seen the main character actually DO SOMETHING with the his abilities.

This was a truly lovely book, and a good note on which to end the year.

Excellent writer. I thought there was some magical realism, but it is somewhat historical fiction. The underground railroad flows beautifully. Difficult topic but not as graphic as say 12 years of slave or the Underground railroad.
