I really love this author, and his books. They are entertaining, funny, exciting, enthralling and suck you right into their worlds.
This one made me laugh out loud at places, but still managed to keep the suspension up throughout the whole book.

I re-read this recently, and it was as charming as I remember! This was a favorite of mine growing up, and it is one of the few books you must read in physical form for maximum pleasure. Digital formats just can't do justice to the spiralling threads of footnotes which form the best part of the story. The structure stands out of course, but beyond narrative tricks, the story is a solid coming of age tale as well. The characters and fantastic, and all the motivations are well thought out.

Gegara Barty kutida bisa fangirling dg lelaki fiksi lain. Ingin sekali bertemu dengan jin semenyenangkan Barty. Kuakui kutida terlalu menikmati part Nathaniel, hasrat untuk melewati bagian Nat sangat kuat, meski akhirnya kupilih utk sabar dan tabah, krn semua penyihir (di buku Bartimaeus) sama saja! Arogan, ambisius, kejam, dan hina, karena mereka memperbudak Jin, imp, foliot dan sejenis2 itu dengan tida layak :( Stroud sangat jenius dalam membangun koneksi antarmakhluk tsb. Aku benar2 cinta Barty dan kuharap Nat alias John akan mati di buku terakhir!
