After reading so many children's fantasy books I never thought I could find anything that would really really impresses me again, as well as made me love it (two different things). This one did.

I love the genie, and (heck yes) I love Nathaniel too.

I read and loved this book years ago, and luckily, it's still great. A truly hilarious protagonist, a little boy who is both sympathetic and totally infuriating, a seemingly unwinnable battle with evil(er) forces, and an awesome magical world combine to make this one fantastic book.
