This book is heartwarming yet cute.. I love Tam's relationship with Nova... I love their bond. And cannot lie... even a lil bit complicated, this graphic novel is really really lovely and heartwarming and Nova as a deaf representation... ate in this book!

Very suitable for Disability December read!

This was cute. I like the art style a lot. I really liked the casual queer and disability rep. Overall it was a bit simple though.

This might sound mean but I don’t mean it in a bad way, it felt very much like something I would’ve made when I was 13-14 if I had any amount of talent or dedication (which I didn’t lol). Idk how to explain it just the characters (mainly Tam) and plot felt like something I would’ve made at that point in my life. So I suppose it could be good for people in that age rage maybe, or nostalgic if you’re an artist who relates to that as well.

The little blob creatures with the mushrooms growing out of them were my favorite. They were so cute.
Especially the one flipping off Mrs Crawford at the end. That killed me

I love the concept and représentation and I wish that the lore was more thorough. This is such a beautiful world and I want to know more about it.

Oh my god PERFECT. There’s a freaking nblw witch x werewolf relationship are you kidding 😫😫😫

Tam is the corny nonbinary werewolf who doesn’t present excessively androgynous (they give me such gender envy. The hair, the piercings, their clothing style, the FANGS oh my god), they aren’t extremely skinny, and overall are just a beautiful multifaceted character from what I could see even in the shortness of this book. Their enby rep really means a lot to me. Nova is the witch, and she’s so lovely as well. I love her protectiveness of Tam and their relationship is adorable. The plot was lowkey interesting too!!! And the animals 😫😫 They remind me of the spirits in the spirit word in atla. I loved this book, such a fluffy happy quick read.

I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THIS BOOK. 10/10, 100% recommend.

Bookstores, witches, magical creatures, and more! Mooncakes is an amazing graphic novel that tells a fun, fantastical story while integrating so much representation. This book did nothing but make my heart happy. There is diversity rep, body rep, LGBTQ+ rep. Nova and Tam make the most perfect duo alongside the Nanas as they discover the mysteries and dark forces fighting against them in their town.

Mooncakes is a book I will be rereading for sure and definitely recommending to readers in the future!

Sweet, adorable coming of age tale about a bisexual Chinese American witch with hearing loss who lives with her (awesome) sapphic Jewish and Chinese American grandmas. She's reunited with her childhood friend (and first love) when they (a nonbinary werewolf) turns up trying to escape desperate, demonic plans. Warm family vibes, supportive friends and found family, helpful cats and forest spirits, great representation, funny bird-headed mishaps ... It's pretty delightful.
