What a wonderful book. I fell in love with the characters.

Brilliantly written!

This is the first book I've read from author Dean Koontz, and if Watchers is any reflection of Dean's writing style, this will not be the last book I'll read from Koontz.

I held my breath, gritted my teeth, and laughed and swore out loud while turning the pages. Typically, I'm not one who'll read or watch anything involving animals, especially dogs. But, many of the reviews left me with wonder, so I made the purchase, and I'm glad I didn't give into my otherwise weakness.

Thanks Dean Koontz for writing such a terrific novel.

This was a really great story, very quotable, wonderful themes and a very fun read. I fell in love with all of the characters, with the exception of one specific. All the characters had their own personalities and were fully flushed out. There were many points of view in this story, but it wasn’t overwhelming. It was perfectly done in my opinion.
My biggest problem with the story is it was way too long. I feel like Vince’s character was just completely unnecessary and could have been cut out of the story. If it was it would not have been missing anything.  If it weren’t for Vince’s story I think this would’ve been a five star read.

Disappointed with this Koontz novel as it seemed very formulaic and therefore predictable.

Why is the book called watchers?

This book was one of my favorites when I was in high school.

I've long said that my favorite Koontz book ever is [b:One Door Away from Heaven|15746|One Door Away from Heaven|Dean Koontz|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1308459846s/15746.jpg|3004873].

But this one comes a close 2nd. In fact, I'm re-reading One Door again just to be sure it really is my favorite. I suspect it will remain so, if only because I read it first.

The one thing I've always liked Koontz more than King is his abiding themes of hope and love. Not to get too Disney, but the optimist in me finds more to relate with in Koontz's writing than King many times.

What's not to like? Edge of seat tension (after all, this is still a Koontz novel!), smart loving characters, bad government agencies and a nightmarish monster bent on ruining the life the likeable characters have developed.

Nora was a bit too shy for my tastes, seemed incredible someone would have been able to be cowed so thoroughly for so long, but that was the only sour note for me in this book.

While I'm not one who thinks dog and cat lovers are mutually exclusive, I have to admit, thinking of a cat as smart as a I am gives me shivers, whereas thinking of a dog with intelligence just makes me want one all to myself.

I think Koontz has the right idea...dogs really could save us from ourselves, if we just opened our minds to it.
