Sweet romance between a well off Duke and a country sister.

While the story, characters, and romance could use some fleshing out, it was a story that was decently written and had a predictable path. It's a nice, comfortable read that manages to stay reasonably well within the mind-set of the (slightly vague) era it's set it, at least enough so that I wasn't taken out of the story. It's a possibly forgettable, but one to read to relax your mind and slip into story that feels familiar.

Even though I love romances with smut, this story kept me turning the page. Gabriella helped her dad with his veterinarian practice for many years up until he died. Now her sister, Angela, wants her to come to London for her first Season. She is not interested. Then she meets the duke who is obligated to launch her into London society because of a lost wager. Her life is finally beginning. Is Brie ready for it?

A sweet, clean Regency romance. I wasn't surprised by anything, but I enjoyed the journey.

If you like historical romance and 90s teen romcoms, then this is the book for you! The Duke of Ravenham lost a bet and has to take out Miss Gabriella Gordon, a country girl, through the showing season. They have not gotten off on the best of terms but as they spend more time together the two realize a they might have more in common than they thought. Can they get over the reason why they were brought together or how society will look at at them?

Gabriella is young and new to city life. She hasn't yet learned to listen to her gut and the villain definitely takes advantage of her naivety. Ravenham is looking out for her though, and knows the tactics of the less-than-gentlemanly.

The Duke has a younger sister, Lady Elizabeth, who becomes good friends with Gabriella. This strong female friendship will warm your heart. It’ll remind you of being younger and finding that friend you just "clicked" with.

Such a fun and clean read. I enjoy historical romances and the swooning involved but this one was just tip top because my other love includes all teen rom coms from the 90s. If you know, you know

Kindle freebie. Clean Regency romance. Would read more by this author.

This is truly one of the better regency novels. Ms. Hiatt did a lovely job setting up the scene, developing the characters, and creating some great dialogue. Brie (Gabriella) sounds like a lovely person and genuine friend. She's not terribly outspoken like her awful sister, Angela, but she's passionate about the things she loves. Her father's deceased, but she honors him by continuing to provide loving care to animals around her, including a mistreated kitten.

Dexter is a better man than most people around him. I think he's got good instincts about people and it shows because he doesn't allow "just anyone" to befriend his sister, Elizabeth. When he first meets Brie, the two don't think very much of each other. When they are reintroduced at another event, I was halfway wishing they would have a verbal show-down again, but that didn't happen! But I'm very pleased with how the story progressed and how their respect for one another slowly grew to "like" and then "love." It's really very nice!
