Wow. You know, I think it’s hard to get into paranormal type series sometimes. They aren’t my favorite genre so it has to be really captivating to keep my attention. And this book did it!! Book 1 was awesome. Book 2 KILLED IT. I’m already dying for Book 3. Melisande is so bada**. She is strong and determined and while she’s a little hasty in some of her decision making, she has a heart that wants the right things for the ones she cares about. She’s a hell raiser, that’s for sure. We don’t see AS much of Belial as I would like in this book, although we know he’ll be back around. Lucifer, Tascius, and Azazel are a bigger part of this story and I love them! I love literally all 4 men. They each have qualities that I love. I love the relationship between Melisande and Vyra. They’re so good together. Best friends, for sure. And the Chainlings. Lol. I’m a fan of them too! A lot of things change in this book and there are some unlikely allies that I actually really enjoyed. Cate Corvin is writing a great series about these angels, and demons, and things of the underworld and I am here for all of it. Impatiently waiting for Book 3!!

“I’m so sorry. I’ve spent years being molded into a soldier expected to make independent decisions on my own. I’m not used to relying on people, or caring what they think, or asking them their opinions. I know I’ve fucked up endlessly, but… I’m still learning. I’ve gone from being alone to being surrounded by people. It’s damn hard to share my mind sometimes.”

That ending had me gagged 🫨 this author is good at cliff hangers it seems. so this book tbh primarily focuses on melisande’s relationships with the guys and just building on them. also ofc getting back into belial’s good graces🙄 the plot only really heated up like 75% of the way through.

This series has been a fast favourite from the get go. Book one had me by the heart string, goofy smile and all. Book two had me on the edge of my seat!

So much happened! So much changed. I’m shocked by the developments between the boys, as well as Melisande. It wasn’t always love and perfection. She had real struggles with each relationship, I loved that development of characters.

As always Cate has the ability do create a world so realistic I can see every tree, shrub and soul capturing river.

The only thing that I’m going to say is the EYE!! Ugg that made my entire body cringe!

I am eager to read book three! I need to know what happens next. The suspense is killing me!

Happy Reading!
