i really like the magic systeme in this novel! the concept really does it for me, the setting is wonderful and it was kind of suspenseful? i just feel like some events were written with a lot of descriptions and some important ones were almost overlooked. or maybe it’s just because of the ya genre?
i def had a great time with this novel (and i will probably read the next one in the series as soon as it’s out). the beautiful cover made me pick it up even though i hadn’t really heard much about it, i’m glad :)

You know… the ending was gnarly. I’m kind of into it.
Honestly, I needed just some mindless reading time, and this delivered that. There were flaws.. oh were there flaws. But I still enjoyed it, and I’m intrigued enough to continue.
I will say the things that bothered me the most were:
- The pacing: we’d be halfway through a scene and then the next chapter would be like “A week later..” It was a bit shocking at first. Felt like I was missing words.
- The romance was okay… it felt light and rushed. But it felt consistent with the writing style.
That is to say, the ending was a ride. And while I had my assumptions, it still kept me entertained.

Net goed genoeg. Het einde was te weinig verrassend en hoewel er leuke karakters in zaten kon het verhaal over het algemeen wat beter. Toch nieuwsgierig genoeg om naar het volgende deel te grijpen zodra dat er is.
