An intense read for sure. I could relate a bit to some of the character’s ideas pertaining to Earthseed. I will definitely have to read the original from Octavia E. Butler.

Some really great insights, tying the past into present and looking to the future. The religion component didn’t quite mesh with the story so well I feel like in this format and I was less interested in it than I was in the overall story. Still good and I like that it focused on building community and support others. Being prepared and coming together is how we survive.

What a time to read this book! A dark prediction of a world that could exist in the not so distant future as the gap between the rich and the poor widens, resources get more scarce, and climate change gets more out of control.
