I am clearly the outlier, as I have seen so many 5 star reviews. This one tried my patience. Sixty something chapers of not only alternating timelines but also alternating character chapters. Plus, multiple crimes. Too much was going on, and it slowed the pacing down and made it convoluted, in my opinion.

This is pretty good. Very good creepy feel. Really good writing style. Flowed well and had a good rhythm. Characters were well thought out. This will be one to read in the daylight.... don’t read it at night. Highly recommend this book when it comes out.

The Pines are a very unlucky bunch!!! Every Last Fear had an eerie Making A Murderer feel to me. A couple of parts stood out that they may have came directly from that series. However, I enjoyed the characters so much. They were well described and you just wanted to root for them but it was in vain since you know the plot. The writing was really good, the story just didn’t wow me.

It's a problem when the characters feel like characters instead of people.
