I cant tell if it is the worst book ive ever read or my favorite. I feel like i want to reread it but the 1000 pages were a struggle and I dont think i could read it again for a very long time.

The only good thing about this books is that the writing is very simple so it’s a pretty quick read. The way women are written about, the relationships, everything else: absolute shit.

there are detestable things about this novel. there are also enjoyable things about this novel. there are very few people that i could recommend this to. i don't think that means anybody should read it.

the most unrealistic part of this book wasn’t the two moons in the sky, or the
weird cult that makes doppelgängers of young girls,
or the parallel universe thing. it was that
aomame is supposedly heterosexual

I listened to the audio book version. I'm not sure if iI would have read it other wise. The writing is so Japanese, which I enjoy. I enjoyed the story and the writing. It is a bit repetitive, but I feel like part of that repetitiveness gives it a trippy feel. I do wish that Muramaki didn't focus so much on the female body quite so much. Boobs, we know they exist.
