A Winter Wish

It was fine. Not really all that Christmasy so if that’s what you are in the mood for this won’t be the best option.

This book has a little more of a serious and somber tone because the holidays aren't always holly and jolly in the real world. Lexie is thrown into the life her father had with his second family after his death. She has a lot to unpack and work through. She's been living her life through one narrative and it's hard to see other sides. I liked how she was able to open up and let other people help her.

I enjoyed the addition of international travel to the typical unexpected inheritance trope. This gave the characters the opportunity to interact in new locations and with new challenges. Overall this was a very enjoyable book.

Thank you to Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine | Dell and NetGalley for the advance reader copy. I am required by law to disclose this.

4.75 out of 5 stars: From the tavel aspects to the settings of this book, it was everything I needed to get my mind off of the pain of winter. This book has so many great themes, from the messiness of family, to struggles with a parent, especially when there is a
death of one
, to there being more to one side to a person people can know, how our parents relationships can affect our views, and our coping mechanisms.

While the romance was fun with the antagonists to more with how Theo and Lexi opened up and shared things,
wishes for secrets
. I loved the found family feeling of the agency, Ang mother henning them all, was everything.

The letter from Lexi's dad was everything and honestly something I wish I could hear from my own father. I also love how Lexi finally opened up to Rachel and allowing the bond. How Lexi learned to let go and see there was two sides to her dad. How Rachel apologized for her parents wrong doings.
Honestly the pace killed me otherwise, I would've given it 5 stars.

I have to be honest here…I thought this was gonna just be some romantic fluff. I didn’t anticipate the way I cried. I didn’t expect to laugh out loud so much. And I certainly didn’t think I was gonna FEEL so much in general. It’s a lovely lovely book and I am definitely gonna read the others this author has written now. Such a delightful read.

This is a fantastic book to get you in the Christmas spirit, I really enjoyed that it wasn’t too full on with romance and had other storylines to accompany it.

Lexie was my favourite character, especially when seeing have she dealt with loosing her father twice, firstly through being abandoned as a child (still affecting her as an adult) and through his death.

I enjoyed the enemies to lovers trope and seeing how Lexie and Theo’s relationship developed. Their ending was perfect, especially the setting. Another relationship development that appealed to me was Rachel’s and Lexie’s, it was endearing to see them becoming closer.

The settings of the book were stunning and I loved the reasons behind the travel agency being set up and the name it was given.
