A Winter Wish is a perfect blend of contemporary fiction and slow burn romance. The owner of a unique travel company passes away and leaves half his company to his estranged daughter from his first marriage, Lexie, and his promising mentee Theo. Theo and Lexie must run the company for a year before they are allowed to sell, but this arrangement is the last thing either of them want.
The characters in this book are not perfect and they felt very real and relatable. Lexie struggles with making long term connections; this stems from when her father left her and her mom and began a new family. Throughout the book Lexie has to figure out how to reconcile the man she knew with the man others knew and loved. She begins to discover who he was as a whole person. Whole people are complicated, they make mistakes, but we can't live in the past and the only thing to do is try to apologize and do better in the future. A lesson that Lexie, herself has to apply to her own life. This story does tug at the heartstrings. It is a story about grief, love, family, and moving forward to make your wishes come true.
