This was the perfect mix of romance and family drama! The book felt cozy and gentle despite actually taking place all over the world. It was just what I’ve come to expect from Emily Stone.

The flirty banter between Lexie and Theo was A+ and they had an undeniable chemistry right from the start. Their love story was so satisfying.

But while I of course love the romance, it was Lexie’s family dynamics that made this book for me. There’s so much here about grief, perspective, and forgiveness.

I love having Emily Stone’s books to look forward to at this time of the year, and this one is another winner!

First things first. There are two things readers should know about this book going in. 1.) It is a slow-burn romance. 2.) Very little of the book actually takes place at Christmastime. Those things out of the way, this was actually a very good book. It is emotionally charged and deals with complicated family dynamics. I was moved to tears at multiple points during the story. I found the romance much more believable than in most romances I have read this year. I can see how some might find this book boring or tedious. It is very much a character driven story, but I personally live for that. The book is well written and atmospheric. I definitely recommend!

Well I’m ending the year with some mid books but that’s okay. I really liked the premise for this and it definitely had its moments. The main character was often annoying, especially toward the end. The story jumped forward in time a lot because it takes place over the course of a year; I really expected it to be more Christmassy but again the timing made that hard. I wouldn’t dissuade anyone from reading it during the holiday season but don’t expect a ton of those vibes. Just a little too jumpy for me.
