Lexie inherits her father's travel company, but has to share it along Theo for a least a year. After a year the two can decide to sell the company.

The characters were likable throughout the story. Each adding something to the story. I enjoyed the writing and the story overall.

What I enjoyed most were the travel scenes. The characters discussing trips and experiences in various countries. I love to travel and have been lucky enough to visit some of the places mentioned. For me it added to the story.

I was expecting this to be more of a winter/Christmas read, but it wasn't. The story takes place over a year and for me the winter vibes were not present like I was expecting.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

A Winter Wish
by Emily Stone
2.5/ 5 ⭐️

A Winter Wish was my first book by Emily Stone. It offers an intriguing premise centered around a traveling holiday company, exploring diverse cultural traditions. Also, the unique concept of a wish jar shared between Lexie and her father adds a touching emotional layer to the narrative.

However, the novel falls short in several key areas for me. The pacing felt sluggish, with repetitive elements that slowed the story’s momentum. While Lexie’s grief is a central theme, her regretful monologues become exhausting. The romantic relationship between Lexie and Theo lacks genuine chemistry. I read this book for @readingthroughbookclub, but it was not for me.

If I ever need a cry, I can always count on Emily Stone.

If you know me, you know I am a forever fan of Emily - her books always make me feel all the things, this one being no exception.

Thank you to Penguin Random House for sending me finished copy of A Winter Wish, I will treasure this baby forever <3.

This book hit SO close to home, as a daughter of an absentee father who created a whole other family - wow this book hit me in the feels.

To start with, I love Ange!! She was truly the person who kept everyone going. I loved her wisdom, I loved her ability to have faith and trust in everyone. I loved her no BS attitude and most of all, I loved that she knew no one was perfect - because we aren't and that's ok.

Theo, wow. The character development 👏🏻 I started off disliking him, to respecting him and crying for him.

Lexi, my girl, my sweet girl, how my heart aches for you. I loved watching you fall in love with travelling in a new way and allowing yourself to be loved. I couldn't have asked for a better FMC.

This book was so so well written, the family relationships, the feelings of not being enough, the message that life doesn't work out the way you've always planned (or wished for 😉) and that's okay.

I loved the travel in the book, we got to experience so many different places, meet new people and build the best relationships along the way while also healing our inner child.

Emily's books are always so theraputic for me, they allow me the space to cry my sad and happy tears, her books are so well written that I feel like I am a character in her books especially this one - definitely healed a little part of the little girl in me.

If you're looking for a book filled with found family, enemies to lovers, slow burn filled with banter, healing your inner child, learning to forgive, and lots of travel with all the winter vibes then this one is for you - beware, you will cry.

I listened to this one on audio and overall it was a good time!!

A Winter Wish is like if an Emily Henry book birthed a little English baby. There were so many moments of grief and banter and joy that brought me back to PWMOV and Beach Read.

I really enjoyed the narration and I loved the English accent throughout. I really transported me into the world of the story.

I did really enjoy Lexie's character arc and the way that she dealt with her emotions following the death of her father.  It all felt incredibly realistic and I liked that she had a lot of honesty to her point of view.

I will say that most of the two MCs problems would have been solved by communicating with one another but that's just the way life is bahaha.

Overall, a good time! Not completely life changed but I enjoyed it!

Thank you Dell Romance, Emily Stone, and Netgalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thanks to PRHAudio for a free audio and NetGalley and Random House for an eARC.

I enjoy this author and have loved previous books.

This one missed the mark a little for me.  I enjoyed it enough to keep reading.  And enemies to lovers is usually a favorite.

I didn't find myself fully invested in them as a couple and at times didn't really care if they worked out.

Emily Stone does heartfelt and emotional centered around Christmas so well!  I very much enjoy light hearted Christmas reads, but I also love these deeply emotional stories that Emily Stone weaves and I will read anything she writes.  She delves into wishes made that don't come true, expectations not met, and relationships fraught with disappointment, but having strength in times of struggle, and that love that conquer all - whether that is romantic love, familial love, or friendship love. So well done!
