Forever an Emily Stone fan girl.

Short Synopsis:
Lexie’s estranged father passes away and leaves her half of the company. The stipulation being that she has to help run the company for at least a year. Lexie doesn’t want anything to do with her dad or his company though.

My Thoughts:
Emily Stone writes books that aren’t for everyone. Her debut is one of my all time favorite books, but it’s rated ridiculously low and I think that has to do with the topics the author doesn’t shy away from. The covers make it look like romcoms, and they are so much more than that.

A Winter Wish is a story of grief, complicated relationships, finding yourself and forgiveness. It was done beautifully. I was rooting for Lexie to find peace and R&L to thrive. Her relationship and growth with her sister was the highlight of the book for me. This stone-heart girl got a little teary-eyed.

I thought it was a cute holiday read. Some perseverating on the FMC’s part, but I liked it overall.

I am such a sucker for Christmas holiday romance, and this one did not disappoint, even though it wasn’t just only set at Christmas Lexi is in Europe working at a ski resort. She gets a call that her e Background strange father has died. Lexi comes back to the US for her father’s funeral and ends up finding out that she’s inherited 1/2 of his travel agency. Theo is the other half owner of the travel agency as he was her father’s protégé. Lexi coms with a lot of baggage and disappointment when it comes to her father. Theo does not understand this as her father was always talking about her and her half-sister. Theo and Lexi have to work together for a year and if things don’t go well then they can sell if they want. Lexi works at the agency awhile and then ends up leaving after a few months. As Theo and Leslie work on and off together throughout the year, they slowly become more friendly. Leslie does return to the business and the two of them learn to communicate with each other/ Theo and Lexi are learning to understand each other. They both have versions of where they can take the business. Lexie now being part of this company also gets know her father and understand him more. Lexie is able to get to know her younger half sister too. The chemistry between Lexi and Theo is just fabulous and how the book ended was perfect, I really enjoyed this book. I alternated between reading and listening to the book and it was fabulous.

A Winter Wish is the enemies-to-lovers story of Lexie and Theo. When Lexie’s estranged father passes away, he leaves his travel agency to Lexie and Theo and they, of course, can’t sell the business until they’ve run it successfully together for a year.

At the beginning of the novel Lexie was pretty immature and selfish and her growth came pretty late in the story. Theo wasn’t as fleshed out as a character and I wish we had learned more about him. The story was somewhat slow-moving but I stuck with it and enjoyed the book.

I liked that the agency planned trips around local holidays. I would have taken a couple of those trips!

Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Random House - Dell for an eARC. Opinions are my own
