Overall - 2.5/5. Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC! There were definitely parts of this book that were super unique - the fact that it was co authored by 3 women as well as starring 3 women authors as the main characters. I can only name a handful of books I’ve read with multiple authors. I will give the authors credit - they did do a fantastic job with the 3 main characters and the creation of their very different personalities.

Unfortunately - other than that I just wasn’t really sold. I think one of the hardest things for me to get over was the fact it was based in Scotland with Scottish jargon through a lot of the book. I found myself often just skimming to say that I finished it.
slow-paced

Such a fun read! Three authors travel to a remote Scottish island to research the book they plan to write about the historic murder in the island. Only shortly after they arrive, the current occupant of the historic castle is murdered, and our authors are among the suspects.

This is a fun locked room style mystery with lovely twists. A fun note is that it was written by 3 authors and flows seamlessly. The story is largely td through our authors' statements to the local police. The 3 female authors are well developed with engaging backstories. The mystery is complex and engaging. It unfolds beautifully!

I loved this book and would love to read more with these characters.

This was a wild ride and no one is as they seem! Although the writer in residence did get what was coming to him...

This was 1st book by Beatriz Williams but it will not be my last!

The audiobook used multiple narrators for the different POVs, but each narrator did voices for the other characters (e.g. The narrator for Cat's POV had a very different voice for Emma than the narrator who did Emma's POV). Ultimately I found it very confusing and hard to follow. I definitely think it's worth trying again as an ebook based on what I did read. I didn't have a problem with any of the narrators individually, just the production.
