Will be thinking about this for ages. The magical realism is so cool to me, it feels different from fantasy in that it's just what the world felt like back then. Magical happenings and tales told between towns were real. The characters are all EXTREMELY flawed, which is a main draw of the book. The way it's written is exactly what I like. Not too much flowery language, getting to the meat of what's happening.

This book will haunt you long after you've finished it. 
This was the first time a realized I could love a story without liking any of the characters. Calling the Buendia family morally gray would be an understatement. The story lives up the hype and definitely deserves its place as a literary masterpiece! Put it in your list of books to read before you die, you won't regret it.

I loved the magical realism aspects and portions of it were beautiful, but I couldn’t get past the continued mentions of incest, rape, grooming, pedophilia, etc. Every time I would find myself enjoying the read, something disturbing would come up to throw me off.
