Aw, I loved this! "The Last Act Of Adam Campbell" is about life and death, second chances, redemption, the power of friendship and finding it in the most unlikely places. I really like Andy Jones' writing style and characterisation. I got completely lost in the book and found it more uplifting than I had expected. And, of course, in places I bawled my eyes out.

The Last Act of Adam Campbell is equally as heart breaking as it is uplifting. I'm writing this review with tears in my eyes and a heavy feeling in my heart.
A beatiful story that follows a group of terminal cancer patients who meet up with Dr Sam to come to terms with their outcomes.
When Dr Sam himself dies, the group decide to continue their meetings themselves.
What follows is a beautifully tragic story about love, friendship, Shakespeare and death.

This was last months book club read for @bookscape.books and this is not something I would normally choose to read myself. However, stepping out of my comfort zone proved to hand me a hidden gem! This was a completely new author for me and a completely new genre of book but my god did it go beyond what I ever expected.

Adam, a man who had it all - a partner, a family, a daughter - until he cheated and his partner and she kicked him out. Pat, a nun in a crisis of faith. Tom, a former junkie with an absent mother. Laura, barely eighteen years old with a bucket list of things she wants to do. What ties them all together? They’re all living on borrowed time and fighting cancer diagnoses.

This book is so beautifully written and I felt like I was going through their troubles with them. I became so attached to the Rude Mechanicals (yes, Shakespeare reference. There’s a lot of those in this book) and I felt like I knew them all so well.

This book has humour, joy, heart wrenching moments, and above all it captures the beauty of life. If you manage to get through this book without a lump in your throat do you even have emotions???
