Sighing with a big smile on my face is fairly normal- the wistful longing and googly eyes too. The happy smirk forming while I type this is because I'm a scone cold bitch. -Still not a typo!

I am in love with falling in love. I love the fall. I love the journey. But what about After We Fall...?

After We Fall is a second chance romance with new players...I'm the weirdo that assumes (yes, the saying is correct) that second chance is between a previous couple. Not always, but I like specifying in this case because a good sconing is not always enough to deter jerks.

Ridiculous comments aside, this book is fun, sexy, and sweet. Has some awesome one liners, over the top reactions, and enough drama to make your heart twinge, even as a scone cold bitch!!!!!!

Still my absolute favorite line!

I absolutely love Melanie Harlow, and I could not have been more excited for After We Fall. I have been in kind of a book funk lately and this was exactly the book to pull me out! It was sexy, sweet, and emotional, giving the perfect balance of everything I look for in a great romance book! Though I have loved everything I have read from Melanie, After We Fall just might be my favorite!

Jack and Margot come from completely different worlds. Margot prefers men in suits and Jack doesn't want anything to do with a city girl like Margot. But since Margo has been hired to do some PR work for his family's farm, they are stuck with one another. But soon the tension between them is completely different, and they find themselves unable to stop the growing attraction and feelings for one another.

loved these two. They were so different, and yet they worked so well together. Jack was often broody and surly, and yet my heart broke for him and all that he had been through. He had been so deeply hurt that you could clearly see how he was was a direct reflection of his pain. Margot was exactly what he needed. Margot was dealing with her own issues and needed Jack just as much as he needed her. I adored these two and loved seeing how far they came over the course of this book. Their chemistry and connection were so strong and I couldn't get enough of them.

Overall, I really loved this book. The story was beautiful and one that I couldn't put down. I loved the characters and felt so invested in them. Melanie Harlow just seems to get better with each book she writes, and After We Fall is her at her absolute best! This is one I would highly recommend for romance fans of all genres, and I think that this book is a must read!

Sweet, sexy, emotional opposites attract romance between a city girl and a farm boy. Jack and Margot just might be my second favorite couple after Lucas and Mia. After We Fall with make your heart break with the loss and trauma Jack experienced and make it melt with the fun, swoon-worthy moments. The epilogue is everything and if you want more Margot and Jack be sure to read Melanie's three part short story she posted on March 5, 6, and 7th in the KU Corner│a Romance Reader Group (https://m.facebook.com/groups/1591032644554345?view=permalink&id=1819698825021058) #bedtimestoryinthecorner @Melanie Harlow

An enemies-to-lovers snack that packs an emotional punch. Margot and Jack have explosive chemistry. I typically don’t love the whole widower trope, but this one managed to tick all the boxes. Harlow’s sensitivity in exploring grief, trauma, and healing is masterful. This story was unputdownable.

I started listening to this audiobook after I checked the rating here on goodreads.
4.27 is pretty damn great, right ? Well... it depends...

It depends on what your expectations are. Mine were very high and I ended up being disappointed.
Firstly, because I want to read (or listen to) a love story that feels real, natural, between two characters who just click and have that perfect chemistry. Needless to say, I feel like After we fall didn't deliver that.

In After We Fall, Margot is a rich city girl who takes on a PR jobs that lands her on the Valentini family farm, to help promote the family farming business. Of course she is very smart, beautiful and she is nothing like the rich girl that is everyone thinks she is. So far she has been unlucky in matters of love, but now one look at Jack Valentini -the grumpy, mean, but gorgeous farmer who lost his wife 3 years ago- and she is all over the place. She wants him and you know she will have him within a few pages.

The amazing Jack Valentini has a lot of issues. Having been in the military, he suffers from PTSD and he is still mourning the loss of his wife, who he thinks was the love of his life (but enter Margot and that will soon change). Of course he blames himself for the death of his wife and thinks he doesn't deserve to be happy ever again. But you know that will soon change, too.

Their story begins with him hating her for no good reason, she on the other hand is instantly attracted to him. At first, they barely interact and yet, after only seeing her a couple of times, he goes up to her and kisses her out of nowhere. BAM. This felt weird to me. Everything after this felt unrealistic to me. This 'I hate you, but I love you' type of deal is so annoying and overused in romances. And then there's little miss sunshine -so innocent and she only had bad sex with a couple of guys- who can't stop imagining the hot farmer screwing her senseless.

I am hoping to finally find a book where at least one of the main characters is not a total wreck, who suffered a great loss or was abused in some way in their childhood, sexually or otherwise. Characters who have a normal life and they just find each other and fall in love. A book with sex scenes, but where the guy doesn't want to stick it up the girl's throat until she hurls, or wants to come all over her face o_O.

Because this book was exactly what I previously described, I'm only giving it 2,5 stars.
