I've been waiting all summer for 'In Her Blood' to make it to the top of my reading pile, but it was well worth the wait. I loved everything about this book. Iris, the elderly owner of the old Gilmore Hotel, had me intrigued right from the start. Each character came alive on the page. Even though you know that Charlie's disappearance has something to do with Paige's disappearance (Iris's daughter) twenty-one years ago, I was hooked right until the final reveal. Well crafted, massively entertaining. A must read!

Seven years after the fatal house fire that killed her mother and branded Jac Morgan a killer, she had to go back to her hometown. Her sister Charlie, who was the only good thing left in Jac’s life, had gone missing, and she didn’t believe she would ever run away. Twenty years ago, Paige Gilmore, who was a beautiful and talented daughter of an eccentric Iris Gilmore, also disappeared on the annual Gilmore Hotel Open Day. Was there any parallel in the disappearance of both girls?

The atmospheric setting of this one hit me straight from the beginning. I hadn’t expected a haunted hotel story, so I was very excited to get it. The vibe was spot on, and I was so eager to find out what had happened.

The mystery itself didn’t end up surprising me. The twist was something that I had foreseen quite early on (and I was hoping it was a red herring, but it wasn’t).

At the end of the day, this was a pop-corn fun, thrilling book that was deliciously creepy, suitable for thriller beginners. I’m excited to check out more books from the author, though!
