This book makes me really really want a novel-in-verse by Nafiza Azad because I love the interspersed poetry. I also love the beauty of all the cities and loved looking up each one. I liked this book way more the second time I read it because my expectations were different (and maybe cuz I read the audiobook and got to hear the author read some sections). This book is very unique in concept and structure and should be approached gently and openly, processed slowly—word by lovely word. It’s full of so much sweetness but also depths of pain and the balance is very deliberate, I think. I’m really glad I read it again because I gained such different meaning and wisdom from it this time 🌸⭐️✨

I am forever amazed by Azad's writing.

There was a lot of room for improvement, but Azad's writing is lovely (as always) and the structure was so absolutely unique.
