Wow. What can I possibly say about this book that hasn't already been said? I was completely blown away by how wonderful this book was. I'm very sad to have finished it. I could read the tales of Samwise the Brave and the Ring-bearer for the rest of my life. Thank you, Tolkien, for putting this into the world.

I watched the movie and a friend of mine told me about the book. I borrowed it from public library. The plot is super heavy. The characters are noble and wicked. But I love the imaginary world of Mr. Tolkien. His writing is detailed and engaging.
Not wonder this book until now is popular classic.

There are books that change you, that stay with you until the day you die and you can see when you close your eyes.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy did that for me. Tolkien here expertly utilises his knowledge of Anglo-Saxon folk stories in particularly Beowulf from his job a professor of Old English to build a world that is both realistic and magical.

Using a varied and intriguing cast of characters, the fight of good versus evil, of our strengths and limits, have never been shown so humanly flawed and so compellingly.

Tolkien through his magical work that will forever and always be my favourite opened the door for the fantasy genre in a new and original way.
