It'd been thirteen years since I'd first read The Lord of the Rings. This time around, I focused on Tolkien's language - it's rich and elegant and fits his ideas like a tailored suit.

Still, I can't help but think that the Hobbits' return to the Shire drags. I lost steam thirteen years ago and I lost steam now.
