I really really liked this book. Perhaps more than the first 🫢
Everyone has a little Isabel inside of themselves. Our worst critic, internalizing every bad thing someone has told us, keeping ourselves out of the room. Being put in her story, in her narrative -- really only makes me want to stop thinking like this for myself because this kind of destructive mindset is what stopped Isabel from truly going after what she wanted. Although this is a romance and romances end happily -- seeing how she thought of herself was shocking.
This way Liana incorporates history into these stories, real events whether current to the times or events that add to the story despite accuracy of time is truly beautiful. These are my first experiences with historical romance and I love it!

He carefully cultivates a rakish persona to hide his work for the Home Office. When he catches Isabel snooping during a party, he offers to help her find information for Mexico.
The inevitable push and pull between Isabel and Dawson is an entertaining ride, especially since neither wants to ruin the seemingly conflicting hopes and dreams of the other. Recommended for fans of historical romance looking for a more diverse cast.

While the first book in the series was good, I loved this second installment. Isabel might be my favorite of the three Luna sisters! Cannot wait for the third one to come out this August!
- Likes: Isabel's bookishness and cleverness, the kind and sexy romance, the political importance to the main and romantic plot
- Dislikes: that third act break-up trope did not have to go so hard ðŸ˜
