Better than the last one! I still found the romance a bit stilted - the entirety of the interest between the two leads is just "inexplicable interest" and honestly I find that to be a bit of a lazy trope - but it's definitely an improvement. The plot was definitely more interesting in this book and the characters felt somewhat more developed. Looking forward to reading the next one!

This was good. Pero. It is sooo hard reading idiots in love. It’s so hard to read self-sabotaging characters. I get really frustrated reading characters who love each other but don’t accept that love, in their circumstances, is enough.

I didn’t love Isabel. She was okay, but the low self esteem… it was grating. And Sirius was also on that tip, big on self-flagellation.

All that said, though, it was good. Well written, strong side characters, mostly compelling plot. And hot, when it was hot.

Really looking forward to reading Gabi’s story in the fall.

day 91 of trying to convince you to read this series.

Isabel & the Rogue is the second book in the Luna Sister Series. In this book we follow Isabel’s story, a wallflower who is often overlooked however I this book we witness as she reconciles further her relationship with her sisters, finds her self confidence and falls for a man that loves everything about her.

my man Sirius is down BADDDD for Isabel and she can’t quite believe it so it results in the perfect amount of angst and yearning in this historical romance. I don’t want to spoil anything so just read the series and ENJOY another beautiful stunning amazing WOC being a man to his knees 😚😚😚

p.s. I need Gabby’s story like yesterday THANK YOU!

This book deserved to be loved and appreciated more than I was able to. I think it tried to do a bit too much with not enough pages? The writing was also a bit too poetic and too descriptive for my taste.

The historical events and the entire historical plot was very interesting (and I will be searching for more books that approach this subject), but I feel like it could have made for a very interesting book by itself.
Similarly, the romance was sweet and wholesome, but I feel that it didn't have time to be developed enough.

It was a great experience, I just didn't care enough about any part of the book for me to enjoy it more than 3.5⭐.
