- THIS is the definition of found family
- not usually a big fan of romance but this one worked for me
- clever and well paced plot
- everything Kingfisher writes is honestly so good

Another compelling story from T Kingfisher. I know it is weird to describe something as whimsical and dark...but that is how it is. Do we have some stuff that is creepy beyond all reason? Yes. Do we have a pet undead dog who is the best boy? Also yes.
Strong fairy tale vibe, unlikely friends go on adventures, good ending.

This was actually a reread, though I'd forgotten I read this a couple of years ago.

Cute, sweet story; an adult take on the fairy tale. Mara reads like any awkward woman with self-esteem issues would: unsure, uncomfortable, plowing on despite feeling like maybe she's doing it all wrong. Kingfisher has a knack for writing female characters any female reader would easily identify with.

Agnes is my favorite.
