What a fun read! I always love a good boarding school story. This was a nice girl centered version of Harry Potter blended with a sprinkling of Hex Hall. Fun and enjoyable. Off to find the next in the series!

I'm a fan of Molly Harper and found this book delightful.
Even if the plot can somehow reminds of Harry Potter, there's a lot of world building and interesting characters.
I loved the style of writing and was hooked since the first pages.
I look forward to reading the next instalment in this series.
Recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC

2.5 rounded up because I got hooked at the end. As most of the other reviewers noted, it’s pretty derivative it’s also a little addictive. I needed to finish, but I’m not sure I’ll seek out the second one anytime soon.

Changeling 3.5⭐️ A Harry Potter knock off, but really entertaining; and HP is my favorite series. I enjoyed the story and characters. A little darker with the non-magics working as servants for the magical families. But enjoyed the high society concepts. I will read more in the series.
My rough notes on the plot summary
Spoiler Sarah Smith is born, a snipe, Non magic. Found out has magic powers. Faked death and became the cousin of the Winters family they worked for. Went from servant to high society. As Cassandra Reed. New school and learning her new place and magic. A magic book claimed her as its translator.
The book tells of the magical government, or Guardians. And of the ruling families. Would have liked more details on these. The 8th family was marked out of the library windows. School. Classes. Her familiar. A bird. Philip.
Research guilds. Made friends. Ivy and Alicia And her brother Gavin. Her cousin Owen. Enemy in Calista. Walking dead. Tom attacked Cassandra
Parties. Cornered by the new guardian government. But mary, her jealous sister told Calista that she’s a snipe.
Fled to school over holidays. Miss Morton the librarian was from the cast out family. A Grimstell. Focused on death. Other changelings killed. Magic kids born into unmagic families and taken. Miss morton wants to restore balance. And take down the guardians. And raise an undead army.
Ivy, Alicia and Cassie defeated her (Unmake spell) and all got a dragonfly mark. Society welcomed them all to parties.
She sets out to find the other changeling kids.

Molly Harper has long been a favorite of mine. This new world she's created is brilliant and fun, with all of the wit and lovely character building I've come to know and love from her. I can't wait for the next installment of this YA series.
