Wonderful. Added this to my list after seeing it on my friend's list but what I hadn't realised is I've been in this shop, more than once. A lovely read whether you've been there or not but something extra special when you know the store and the town. Makes me want to be back there wandering through the various rooms, picking up a new book or two and then heading back to my friend's farm for a cuppa and a read.

The Diary of a Bookseller is very slice of life, as the title would suggest. It's an entertaining read in the form of daily diary entries following Shaun, an owner of a second-hand bookshop in Scotland, shading light on what it is like to work in customer service and the book industry, and how silly/annoying customers can be on a day to day basis.

There were some interesting things that I discovered e.g. how second hand bookshops get a lot of their stock, I thought most of the books were just donations. I really struggled with how many names were being dropped and whilst I did recognize some, others just passed over my head completely.

An interesting book, but nothing spectacular.

Daily journal of a bookstore owner for one year. Most small business owners will relate to his stories of customer interaction and employee challenges.

In Scotland the lives a book shop with a wonderfully sarcastic owner, weird customers and slightly offbeat staff, this diary is so good that I am seriously considering a road trip up there to try and become a squatter in the shop among all the books.

I won't be allowed to live there any other way unless I become a squatter and try to claim squatters rights, I need to do some research about that to see if it's a feasible plan *strokes chin while thinking*

I this in a couple of sittings as I didn't want it to end and don't know why it's taken me this long to review it, naughty me.

*Huge thanks to Shaun Bythell, Serpent's Tail, Profile Books and NetGalley for this copy which I chose to read and all opinions are my own*
