A wonderful celebration of the 50th anniversary of this title. It still has the same profound emotion I remember from reading it as a child. I love the narration of this audio & think it will be an excellent companion to the print book.

As a child, I loved Tuck Everlasting. The book taught me about life and death (the wheel) and the movie taught me about young love and making choices for yourself, not for others. As an adult, re-reading Tuck Everlasting gives me a sense of nostalgia, but also a sprinkle of childlike wonder.
As a child, I felt Winnie was relatable. As an adult, I feel she is such a believable child and it is easy to be drawn into her world. Every time I enjoy watching her grow from a rather spoiled girl to a brave girl that puts others before herself after her time spent with the Tuck's.
For all of us that learned about life and death and crushes and villains and toads from Tuck Everlasting, hearing it read by Winnie all grown up is an emotional experience. I started tearing up as she began reading the very first line. Thanks to Alexis Bledel for narrating this, it is truly a nostalgic and heartwarming experience.
Thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for letting me listen to this early, I had a truly wonderful time.

Overall I liked this book. The writing was engaging; the storyline opened with teasing you about what was to come & providing much detail that the reader won't need until later. The short chapters flop between characters, showing their point of view on the coming action.
The plot is a coming of age for Winnie Foster, a young girl who is kept prim & proper & hates it. She longs, or so she thinks, to be free of teh strict rules of her family. One day she boldly goes into the "woods", one step on her path to running away. When there Winnie meets a young man, one that catches her eye due to his good looks.
Winnie's adventures, and coming of age, begins when she is told she cannot drink from a spring. The handsome young man, Jesse Tuck, tells her that she must wait for his mother & brother who arrive shortly thereafter. The tale takes an unusual spin for both the Tucks & Winnie as they try to make sense of each other & the spring.
Reluctant or struggling readers may not stick with the book long enough to see its strengths. The plot takes a few chapters to start.

Tuck Everlasting ...
Wow.
I didn't think I would like this book so much. I borrowed this book from my teacher, because I considered it a really light read and just what I needed in my busy schedule. I'm amazed at how big a message this delivered in so little number of pages.
Tuck Everlasting tries to show how immortality can be more a curse than a blessing. The Tuck family discovered the fountain of youth... but they don't want it. We them cross paths with Winnie, an incredibly curious 10 year old girl and they struggle to keep her from discovering their secret.
I really loved this book. Nathalie Babbitt's ability to create the perfect atmosphere was great. Her descriptive qualities could make you believe you were actually in the story. All the characters were so adorable and important in their own way. I fell in love with Jesse Tuck!
The ending was really bittersweet, but enjoyable.
I'm really glad I decided to read this book. 5 stars.
