3.5??

she lost me at various points, made me laugh out loud at others, and gave way to my own anxiousness about the world.

it's a quick, witty, negative, unsettling, strange, humorous book. the main character/narrator is a unique voice, and I enjoyed her immensely.

I found it a little too over the place.

It'll be interesting to see what fans of Dept of Speculation will make of this one. Ultra-literate Brooklynites cope with parenthood, marriage, family, and the end of the world. No easy conclusions arrive.

“Young person worry: What if nothing I do matters?
Old person worry: What if everything I do does?”

I loved this, stream of conciseness writing about the protagonists feelings of impending doom, but somehow witty.

Positively atwood:esque.

"Weather" by Jenny Offill is a unique take on the intersection of day-to-day life and fear of doomsday. It is smart and funny, although it doesn't completely come together for me.
