Wow, got me a second time! Near the end I was once again scared that a great book would have an unsatisfactory ending, but just the last couple of pages, there was the turn I had been hinging on!

Again, not really a lot to be said without giving spoilers so...

One for sorrow, two for joy... Will you chase the truth or will the truth chase you?

The first book in this duology was in the Book Box Club. I was already quite excited when I noticed that one of the authors was an author I already liked, but the moment we started reading I got more and more excited. I love English boarding school stories in general, so this story had already a great setting and it arrived when I was in the middle of reading mystery after mystery. And since I enjoyed the first book so much, I couldn't wait to read the second book!

Once more I flew through the book. The writing style reads easily and flows nicely and I like how it also really fits the characters, the way they're thinking, the way they're acting and the way they're talking to each other and their friends. It did feel however as if the mystery aspect of the book was a little less prominent and it's hard to say why it felt that way, because I can't pinpoint one point in the story that wasn't about the murder case or the missing girl case.

I think it's mostly because this book felt a little chaotic. I don't say that as something bad, because I think what was going on at the school WAS chaotic. It was impossible for the girls to keep up with everything, to keep up with who was secretive about what. It was therefore also impossible to make sense of all the hints and clues the girls were finding around the school. I therefore grew more and more curious about the ending of this story.

And in a way I saw it coming. I don't know when it happened, I also don't wanna say what happened, but there was a short moment where I knew what was going on. It was a sentence. A throwaway line putting me on the right track. And I was almost, almost believing that the ending was gonna be slightly disappointing. But it wasn't. I quite liked the ending, although there might be a part of me secretly hoping that there will be a next book. I think the authors left the door wide open.

After then being in my TBR pile for a while, I've finally finished reading this series. They're a little different from what I'm used to reading as I think these are more of a young adults read, but I really enjoyed them and as more of a cosy mystery than really intense crime which I'm very used too. I'm known for predicting the "who what and where" of books pretty early into the them and this was one of those for me. I was really excited to see how it was going to conclude towards the end, although I didn't quite expect last few moments of the last page of the book, which definitely left me a little shocked to be honest

So schade!

The ending of this book was AMAZING!! The major plot twist at the end that I never saw coming was written perfectly. I was nervous as to how they were going to have a whole second book, but was not disappointed. It is the perfect amount of mystery along with drama that keeps you reading. I highly suggest this book to anyone who loves a good mystery and a plot twist!
