I loved everything about this one! It was a lot less predictable and kept me in my toes. I love seeing character struggle for growth, and I know that makes me a bit of a sadist, but it's so satisfying when they reach it.

Vi and Taavin coming together finally and having these moments between heartbreak was perfectly done. The juxtaposition between the love and the heartache was expertly written and I can't wait to see what happens next.

this is the most bizarre ending to a book I’ve EVER read. WHAT THE HECK WERE THE LAST TWO CHAPTERS?!

9.57 on CAWPILE. This was a 5 star read. Elise Kova has written an amazing expansion of the Air Awakens story. The magic and the knowledge depth this world creates is phenomenal. I love Vi and Taavin their story is beautiful and I'm invested almost as much as Vhalla and Aldrick's (still number 1 for right now). I did not think the plot lagged at all which was one downside from Vortex Visions and did not have the slight confusing settings of Chosen Champion. I find that this book created a more complex world where politics became involved in a much bigger way and the introductions of new characters made this story very intriguing.

Earth's End is my favorite book of Air Awakens we will see if book #3 for this series is my favorite as well. I will always recommend Elise Kova's books to anyone who will listen. I love the world and stories that she creates.

A lot happened in this installment and it was really good. That ending though hurt a lot.

I loved the direction this book was heading in and I really thought the series was going to head into the same direction but I'm afraid to say I'm bitter that this series didn't.

To be vague and without spoilers, I thought the purpose of this series was for Vi to reunite with someone for a reason brought up in Chosen Champion, but it shifts itself into a time-travel series (like Days of Future Past), shattering my hopes of what it could have been.

Failed Future was the final book in this series that impressed me, the next two kind of disappointed.

This series is building and building into even more awesomeness!

Vi's journey is growing into one of the most epic adventures I have ever read. My goodness. I have the chills just thinking about it. I don't know how patient I will be, but I need the next book. Like right now!

I received an ebook from the author but have also purchased a signed copy for my collection, so my opinions are my own.

The original plan was to have this read and reviewed by March 31, 2020, but then the pandemic happened and I was unable to focus on reading. But I'm happy to report that once I found my reading mojo, I was able to devour this book in three days while playing Animal Crossing! The story was quite compelling and the pacing was rather good. I was definitely speed reading, so I may have missed a few things hidden in the descriptions, but I enjoyed the dialogue.

Warning: you will want to have book four on hand when you finish this one as the ending makes some giant changes to the assumptions you may have been building. I am looking forward to seeing where the author takes the story and may wait until my copy of book five arrives so I can read those two back to back.

The side characters that Elise crafts are great, and I love them almost more than the main characters! Please check out this series if you love well crafted adventures peppered with romance and betrayal as well as familial bonds. It is technically a sequel series to Air Awakens, but you don't need to have read it first. I'm actually looking forward to going back and reading that series once I finish this one as I hadn't gotten past the first book!

BACK ON THIS STRESSFUL RIDE.

I haven’t gotten back to this series in almost a year. I wasn’t super into book two and then it just fell by the wayside. I finally picked up book three and I see a change of pace before me.

I also remember exactly why this book STRESSES ME OUT SO MUCH.

But you would need to read the Air Awakens series first to understand (which I rave about constantly so please do).

The action picked up a lot here and I thought that Vi really started coming into her own. Taking charge of matters. Leading a team. Saving family. All the things I wanted to see from her. It was great and I look forward to her continued passion towards saving the world.

Romance wise, things were better here too. Now that they are able to have some more interaction, Vi and Taavin are starting to pull me on board their ship. LETS SAIL. The conflicts that arise between them are not over dramatic and actually fit into the plot (the best). I’m anxious to see how things break free for them.

Lots of things happening here. SO MANY. I didn’t feel very lost though after not reading this series for a bit which was really appreciated. The way that things from other books are brought up line up perfectly, keeping me informed and wanting more.

Can’t wait to finish this series up shortly!

Overall audience notes:
- Young adult fantasy + romance
- Language: some
- Romance: kisses to implied closed door scenes
- Violence: physical altercations, magic, betrayals, weaponry; not overly bloody/gory
