Thank you sooo much to Elise Kova for the e-arc to be able to read and review this amazing series !
If you haven’t read books one or two go and leave this thread because it’s highly possible I will spoil those. If you don’t care for spoilers, right this way please.
This is hands down the best book so far on the Vortex Chronicles. It was so, so good. For whatever reason or maybe because I read the second two so fast, the plot felt very rushed. However with this third installment, I read the book a little slower and really savored the adventure and the storytelling, and thought it was so well paced and so brilliantly thought out.
We are introduced to more characters that I immediately became attached to and adore (and now I am worried for their safety due to events of the original air awakens series). But I really liked the new vibe the new characters gave to the book and I really hope we get to see more of them soon! I also started to like Vi a lot more in this book, for some reason I wasn’t a fan of her character before but I feel like she’s growing on me more and more and she’s so badass!
The ending was the best part of this book. I’m still honestly shook and this plot twist that Elise threw our way had me SCREAMING internally of course. Like, this was not at all what I expected and now I have so many THEORIES.
The rest of the books in this series can’t come fast enough. If you enjoy the Vortex Chronicles so far this book is going to blow you out of the mfucking park! The adventure, the mystery, the intrigue, the angst – it’s all back with a vengeance in this book and I’m so looking forward to see how it all plays out!

ending was a bust
Full of adventure and exploration, yet something still fell really flat for me. I cant quite put my finger on it at the moment but if I discover it, I’ll be sure to update.
This one was not quite as seamless to read as the second. I appreciated the action sequences and the adventure that went along with it, but nothing really had me hanging on the edge of my seat. Perhaps it’s the writing style that left me confused, but a lack of comprehension of what was really going on made the ending feel like a disaster. Of all the air awakens books, this ending was by far the most disappointing. Obviously the author has a plan with two more books in the series, and I plan to keep reading, but this slow book has me wondering if it’s worth it.

As the series progresses, things just become more unhinged 😂 The first three books have become a jumbled mess in my head and I’m having fun 😅
medium-paced
Damn, I was expecting the ending but also I wasn't at the same time
I knew the twist was coming. But honestly my head hurts trying to understand it all.
Action packed !!!
I didn't expect the end, I still have some issue with it - meaning I need book 4 to clearly understand what the hell just happened haha

Series 1: Air Awakens - Five Stars!
Characters and their relationships were engaging, the action had me so invested action and adventure led by Vhalla and Aldrik who were so layered in their personalities.
Series 2: Vortex Chronicles - Three Stars.
The magic system with its Light Spinning and its less developed elemental magic was great, the deep dive into fate and altering timelines was interesting but it fell flat as a series as we really only had two main characters, Taarvin and Vi which left me not so invested.
Book 1: I loved getting to know Vi and see where she fit within her royal family of blood and her other royal family of choice. Seeing where she fit into the new story and watching her learn and grow was fantastic.
Book 2 & 3: Taarvin was a painful character to read, so rigid and uninteresting. It made his connection to Vi feel insincere, and I had trouble believing that they were so in love. I enjoyed watching Vi’s character development as she became stronger, braver and more capable. The action felt quite forced and I found myself drifting out of the story, not really invested.
Book 4: This was my favourite instalment in the series as I read the book in one day. Following Vi as she really started to take action to change a broken timeline and fix the world already lost. I loved watching her develop some connections and some real friendships. It was wonderful to start connecting the history of the Air Awakens series and see the events from a different perspective.
Book 5: The final adventure. By this book Vi is an absolute powerhouse and it was very hard to believe that the whinging and annoying Taarvin was her true love. He simply held her back from her knowing and her path. I love watching her role as the traveller in the events from the Air Awakens series and craved more details in the writing of these aspects. They seemed glossed over. The ending was not what I expected but still completely satisfying!
