This is the seventh book that I’ve read by this author and they just keep on getting better and better. As soon as I finished reading the prologue I just knew that this was my type of read. It’s one of those books that once you pick it up you’ll really struggle to put it back down again. And who doesn’t love a book like that. This is a fast paced read packed full of twists and turns. I highly recommend this book for fans of domestic / psychological suspense thrillers.

I’m not sure if it is officially a trope or if it has a name, but I’ve been loving books where the plot centers around the reader knowing there is more to the story than they officially know at the start. The small hints that we can guess about (and are most often wrong LOL) but that slowly unfold throughout the read. That describes this book to a tee.
This is not my first read by the author and I love her outrageous storylines. You will not have read this plot anywhere else. It starts off with a bang with the voicemail about using someone else’s child's picture in the missing post. Then it casually switches to two neighbors that live across the street from each other that both harbor secrets. They both seem so normal, but are they? I had all kinds of wild ideas about the secrets the story hinted to and I can say I did have one right, but the rest were not even close to what I was imagining. I love when I can guess something correct in a twisted book, but only when it was not an obvious guess.
And just when you are let in on all the secrets, there is one more ready to catch you off guard. I really liked this one. It kept me guessing (even what I was able to guess, I didn’t know for sure until the reveal), it was a quick read, and the writing style made it so easy to read. I’m not a mom so I didn’t really associate with either main character, but that did not stop my enjoyment.

If you are looking for a quick, can’t put down book, you should give this one a try.
The Stay-at-Home Mother by Nicole Trope is a fast paced book that you don't want to put down.
This story tells about Andrea and Gabby in a duel POV. We follow these two neighbors as they get closer. Each one has a secret that they are hiding and they don't want anyone to find out. Gabby seems to be a neighbor that is there for you, but is she really? Andrea has more going on in her life than she lets on. Will these two become friends or will something more sinister happen.
I loved this book and how it kept me guessing right up to the very end. I would highly recommend this book for anyone that likes psychological thrillers.

My favourite Nicole Trope book so far!
The synopsis had me hooked, and while it took a while to become actually relevant to the story, I think it was a wonderfully intriguing start.
I couldn't put this down, Trope kept it interesting and I raced through it. The ending made me grin like a Cheshire cat!
I'm becoming a huge Trope fan, she writes fascinating characters with a wonderfully gripping plot around them.
Fantastic.

One after the other truth tumbles out when Andy and Terry go out in search for Jack who is nowhere to be traced.
💖 Nicole Trope has done it again by churning out another psychological thriller. The writing is enjoyable and the thriller scenes at the end are bit unnerving as to how things unravel. I loved reading epilogues of Andrea and Gabby and author’s letter at the end was heartfelt.
💔 I found the plot a bit predictable here which was a dampener. The twists are not many and the few ones which are there came only at the end. So I was not totally invested all through.
💫 I would say if you have loved Nicole Trope’s books earlier, go for this. If you haven’t read her before, try her book ‘The Foster Family’ first since I enjoyed that more than this one.

It was an interesting enough book! A tad predictable at times but that’s nothing too bad. I thought Andrea was a neat character, though she seems to gravitate to characters giving off major red flags lmao. I think I was invested enough but I do think that the author wrote more in the vein of “what will make the reader gasp” instead of “does this plot twist actually make sense?” I think the final twist made me the most confused, as it was certainly surprising, I guess, but ultimately didn’t really make a whole lot of sense with what was going on.

Wowowowowow. This was an utterly intoxicating read, the kind that flies by and next thing you know it's three hours later and you're at the last page and feeling utterly flummoxed by where the time has gone.
Expect a Gone Girl-type thriller full of twists and turns, exploring the lives of two stay at home mothers in suburban Australia who have secrets to hide. The author does a very good job at portraying the struggles of motherhood on one end and the deceitful nature of Stepford wives-type parenting on the other (except this time let's add a thousand sociopathic points thank you). I DID NOT expect the development of the story to unfurl the way it did and was SOOOO satisfied with that ending.
UTTER. RECOMMEND. JUST READ THIS.

Oh man this book was wild. I finished this in a day because I just couldn’t put it down (it also helps that it’s a short book). The prologue hooked me and I was itching to see how the story would come full circle to it. There was definitely a lot of twists through the book - the epilogue especially!! I hate giving a .75 rating but the reason why it’s missing some stars is because I felt the ending tied up a little too neatly. Definitely still a solid read!
