I liked the concept of this book, especially the historical perspective of Canadian women in Vancouver, my home. I found it fascinating and horrific to learn about the practices of policing and endangering women’s bodies, and reflect on what has changed yet stays the same in modern day. I was hoping for more tension and mystery in the quest to find “Granville” and I found it was hard to connect to the characters. The style of writing was at times unusual and I couldn’t figure out at times whose perspective it was coming from.

DID NOT FINISH: 33%

Infidelity plotlines among the MCs are almost always going to get me to drop a book. More generally, it felt meaninglessly bleak. I can do a lot of grim, dark, sad, angsty - so long as it feels meaningful. Maybe this book would’ve eventually, but by a third of the way through I wasn’t feeling very sympathetic towards anyone.
