I wasn't able to get fond of the character and emphasise with their feelings as much as I wished I did, making the book nearly inconsequential when seen from the grander scheme of things and probably a book I would not be wanting to reread.

But on the overall, I genuinely appreciate the concept of the book and the ways in which the author has decided to convey the chosen themes of grief and emotions. The great disparity when juxtaposing the flashback scenes of life with the one of present death and the messy journey all the character go through throughout the entirity of the story. Something I'd recommend to someone in search for a light reading, but perhaps, not for people in search for a deeper connection.

Honestly this book made me so mad. Julie is extremely selfish and immature. Sam died and she only cared about herself. Not once did she consider his family and what they were going through. She decides it is completely okay to break into their home and sleep in their dead son's bed. The only time she actually considers their feelings is when Sam's younger brother goes missing at the end of the book (which Sam had to tell her about because surprise she only cares about herself) that she then realizes omg he was their son too not just my bf maybe I should talk to them. Typically I am fine reading books about a family member/friend death and the grieving process the person goes through but for some reason this book seriously pissed me off. I get it he was in her life for 3years however he was in his family's life his whole life and she barely cared about them! Sam literally told her to check in on his cousin, she didn't even really try to see how she was doing. I am glad I'm done with this book and never have to think of it again.

It was slow and boring , it’s magical properties are never explained, fmc isn’t very easy to like, and she seems to get in this weird love triangle right after her boyfriend tragically dies.
