I deeply stan this series of romances and this might be my favorite one! Sometimes the non-romance plot in romances is dumb but this one is actually engaging and fun!

this series never disappoints. the characters are always so fleshed out and lovable. and it’s never solely a romance novel. it’s so much more. the plot is always so deep with layers. i loved this one. i love freddy. i love griff the grump. and i loved the underlining mystery/love story. violet and billy. you adorable souls. and oh my gosh. the epilogue? so beautiful. so precious. i loved this book.

I'm wavering on the rating on this one - I don't know if it's a three or four.
It was definitely worth reading, as someone who typically doesn't do contemporaries I would highly recommend Lucy Parker. I also have a huge soft spot for grouchy heroes.

This book has the worst cover imaginable. I never would have picked it up, but I read a good review and found it on Hoopla. It was very cute, but it was like reading 2 different books. The Austen stuff should have been saved for another book, and they should have stuck to the intrigue around The Velvet Room.

Loved it so much!

I didn’t vibe with the fact Freddy was a nepotism girl and Griff was descended from a lord or whatever (I actually feel massively conned that so many of this series have the aristocracy in, like if I wanted that I would just re-read the Bridgertons?!) and I didn’t really buy them falling madly in love in a week, I think I’m a slow burn gal ultimately, also I wish they’d established their parents had been born when their grandparents had an affair because I was absolutely cacking myself that they were related (I am a soap gal, these things happen!) but I loved the twist with the great aunt and there were some killer moments like when he calls her darling, and my man Leo made an appearance! A good time overall

3.5 cute

Oh, what a happy surprise this was. I loved it so! It was such a great contemporary romance, with all the things I enjoy and none of the things I don't. I loved the Jane Austen aspects of the book, though they are less than I would have thought. Also, I really want to see that show, please. I adored the family dynamics from everyone in the book, and I really want to read Sabrina's book next. I even loved the tiny mystery running throughout! All in all, a lovely read.
