Well, this was a lovely conclusion to the Flawed duology and definitely didn't disappoint! In my Flawed review I mentioned how I'd been led into the novel thinking it was a YA Romance (thanks iBooks for that) and dystopian. I'd expected an annoying cliché love triangle with an annoying mc who is indecisive and just ANNOYING (*cough* America Singer *cough*)! So, I was quite relieved to find how, although there was romance present, it was not overpowering and didn't ruin the book.

As for the rest of it, it didn't drag much and there were a few unexpected twists and betrayals, so overall the book was a solid read.

An absolutely perfect sequel. How these books have not been made into films or TV I do not know!!!

As others have said, this book seems to have followed a YA dystopian checklist. Other than the concept, there really wasn't anything unique about it. My biggest issue aside from that is how preachy it is. Nothing feels authentic--the scenes, the relationships, the dialogue. It feels less like something that could actually happen in real life and more like a Hallmark movie. Everything illogically falls into place for the protagonist and she's able to dismantle the government despite having no political experience. Also, what's up with the random anti-vax comments on page 248?

The first book was brilliant. The second book was good but I nearly DNF’ed it about halfway through because I was finding it a bit slow but am really glad I didn’t. It definitely picked up but I do almost wish the second book had been condensed and tacked onto the end of the first

I liked the sequel slightly better because it fleshed out the characters a bit more and I really loved the resolution of this book. The themes it explored were pertinent to real life and it was an emotional rollercoaster to follow the main character through her journey!

The thing that I love most about dystopian books, is that they either address a problem or leave a moral message to give people strength. This book was so good, I don’t even know how to put it to words. Everything, the message, the writing, the style, the plot, the emotion the reader was left with, almost everything was unpredictable. The biggest problem I see in book series that I don’t enjoy is that the first book was amazing, and then the later books destroy it. That didn’t happen with this series. The first book was amazing, and I think the second book made it greater. I think I found my new favorite book.
