I've been holding off reading this book for some strange reason but I'm so glad I read it because it was really good and had a really interesting storyline. I enjoyed it.

This novel takes place in Paris. There are two timeliness and two narratives. Adalyn in the early 1940's to 1944 and Alice present modern timeline. I found that even though both young women were in their teens, Adalyn seemed so much more mature than Alice who was about the same age. I felted that Alice acted more like her age and less mature. I loved learning about Adalyn and loved the character development for her. I would have preferred the story being told just about her. I wished the author handled the mental health issues better. I rated it 4.5 actually because of this issue. It felt under developed and just a side note to fill Alice's under developed world.

DNF ... I tried to enjoy it because I normally really enjoy WW2 Jewish fiction, but honestly, this one was putting me to sleep.. literally. I think maybe if we didn't have so much of Alice's POV, it would've been better.

Not a single thing that happened in this book felt realistic and Alice and Chloe were just so unbearably unrealistically stupid that I kept having to put the book down and complain to someone nearby. The romance felt weird and out of place, as did the tacked on depression story line. The historical context was mildly interesting but wasn’t written particularly well and it didn’t make up for the rest of the book.

I found out about this book when I went to B&N today at the cafe area. the book sounded interesting enough so I added it onto Goodreads and thanks to my luck a copy was ready for me to borrow right away when I searched it on Libby. I always love WWII stories but with this one is was hard to follow the two plot lines because sometimes I would enjoy the other one more and I feel like because of this it was harder for me to follow.

Very interesting, until it got very... YA. The romance made me cringe and groan out loud (I know it's a me problem, but anyways.) The pacing seemed a bit off, but I also read this in one car ride, so it might have just been me. I'd love to hear more about Chloe's story (the summary was sorta catfish-y in that way) and Luc's! Tbh, I think he was my favorite character.
