I had added Lovecraft Country to my reading list after having watched the HBO show. I found the juxtaposition of the horrors of racism with supernatural horrors fascinating and thought provoking. The book did seem to not lean as heavily into some of the horror/supernatural elements as originally anticipated, but that did not detract from my overall enjoyment of the book.

This book was much different than the show but I really liked both for their individually different qualities. But to have the tv show characters on the cover really threw me off for half of the book.
I wasn’t expecting the ending.
I understood the group wanted to end Braithewhite but how could they? It seemed like a wild leap for the Winthrope ghost to help. And I kind of wish that scene was written about. </>

It was a long book and as an ebook reader I just need to anticipate that more upfront lol

Hypolyta and Ruby were my two favorite characters and I was so happy each got a chapter to explore more about them. If there were ever to be a sequel, I’d love to see a focus on them.
