Books I've read and provided detailed reviews over the years but all data is lost after accidental deletion and GD's refusal to restore it back.

Adding books back to my library for my own reference and tracking purposes

Everything about this book SHOULD qualify another 5-star on my Animorphs scale, but eh. I don't know. Something about this one has just never clicked with me.

This one is significant, with actual game-changing events. The scale is broadened outside of just their backyard. It's set underwater, with DOLPHINS, and WHALES, and SHARKS! With underwater dome habitat thingies!

But look. They take forever getting there, with so much back-and-forth before they actually do anything. I can't believe Ax survived all that time while Cassie whinged about what to do. Her moral dilemma about morphing into dolphins could have been interesting if it hadn't been thrown away entirely with no resolution. At the end of the book
Spoilerwhen Ax morphs into a Captain Planet version of the human Animorphs
, there is no discussion or reconciliation whatsoever with the morality of morphing into sentient beings, despite it being a major plot point in this book. It doesn't even cross Cassie's mind that he just did exactly what she's quarreled with this whole time.

This also is the first of the audiobooks so far I haven't thoroughly enjoyed. The narrator plays it a bit young, and this was the first of the four I've listened to so far where I felt like I was definitely listening to a kid's book.

Not as good as the previous three, I had more difficulties reading through because I personally found Cassies POV kinda boring. Still enjoyable as part of the series but I wasn't as invested in this one.

"People who argue about how smart whales are, or whether they are as smart as humans, kind of miss the point. Whales will never read books or build rockets or do algebra. (...) But it isn't necessary to believe whales are as smart as humans to believe that they are great. They don't have to know words to sing songs. They don't have to be anything but what they are to be magnificent. And even though I don't really know what a soul is, I know this—if humans have them, then so do whales."

Good: The ocean is very dangerous, some of our first glances at the mythology of animals being more than we humans suspect, clever strategy and planning to get to the sea floor.
Less-than-good: Ultra convenience of an Andalite survivor chilling in Sandy the Squirrel's Bikini Bottom glass dome park.

I really like the whale/dolphin interaction in this book. Is it realistic? probably not but hey its fiction and its fun.

In Cassie's POV but we don't really learn much about her like we did with Rachel and Tobias in the last two books. There doesn't seem to be much to her other than she's kind and the resident animal expert. I'm hoping as the books progress we get to see a little deeper into her mind. We do gain a new character who I'm hoping will stick around and help out the kids.

The Solace: Oh, what a first book for Cassie! I love her perspective; she is a character I can easily relate to and like. I loved the new character introduced in this story. I also loved the morphs and the complexities behind morphing them.

The Dread: We're on the fourth book, but we're still spending the first 2-3 chapters recapping the story. I can appreciate a good recap, but maybe there's a better way, a single chapter that the reader can review or skip depending on the need.

Overall, this was a great story. I love Cassie, her viewpoint, and what she adds to the team.
