I think this book is destined to be a classic - in 100 years time, people will be reading it to gain insights into our world. Its power comes from its message; there is nothing wrong with the writing, but the characterisation wasn't as deep as it could have been (I guess because this is the novelisation of a play). And the writing doesn't soar - it does what it needs to do, and does that well. And I was really, really annoyed by the decision to not have quotation marks for dialogue - a needless affectation that sometimes made the dialogue had to follow. But read it: it's great.

Such an important story but unfortunately the execution was not my favourite.

Typical rags to riches (ish) FMC who was likeable but felt a bit stereotypical & as much as I support the message at the end, the delivery just felt a bit unrealistic.
