I woke up in the morning with my chest aching thinking about this book and these characters. Love, loss, perfect anti-heroes, epic villains, and heart ache. It's dark and it's beautiful.

An absolute masterpiece. This series continues to get better and better. Jay has a beautiful way with words that just completely captivates you and throws you head first into this dark and warladden world of vampires and beasts. A 700-page book that reads as easily as a story half the pages. You're made to feel every emotion and go on this epic journey right along with the characters. I really enjoyed the multiple POVs and how they were intertwined to create such an intense plot.

That ending was such a shock, and I'm dying to see where the story goes from here.

I honestly didn't think Jay could create a sequel that could exceed my expectations after reading Empire of the Vampire, but he absolutely did. I laughed, I cried and I did not want this book to end. The character relationships and dynamics in this book dive so much deeper and are so incredibly beautiful. We also get to know some characters from book one so much more and I adored this. The plot continued to just blow my mind, every chapter ending had my jaw on the floor. Jay's prose is lyrical and beautiful, sensual and breathtaking, hilarious and brutal. I savoured every moment of this book and I can't wait for the final book to come out.

While I enjoyed the story overall, I’m uncomfortable with Kristoff’s depiction and treatment of his underage FMC

I do not say this lightly. This was the best book 2 in a trilogy I've ever read. Masterful down to the word. Not a single moment wasted. Absolutely cannot recommend this book enough.
