An absolutely thrilling read that kept me on the edge of my seat, especially the last 10%. I liked it even better than the first book. I’m really curious what explanations Kristoff is going to give in the next book for everything, and I can’t wait till it comes out.

oh my goodness where do I begin.
let’s get two things out of the way first: when I was reading this, I figured that this series is basically my favorite vampire YA trilogy (The Immortal Rules) but then for adults. secondly, the song Mary On A Cross was made for this series. it fits so well.
now, on to the book. the story is cruel, the world is dark and broken and bleak, it has gore, everything’s gone to shit, i’ve had my heart broken at least 8 times and yet this book was an absolute delight to read. when i picked this up, it felt like a warm bath and i remembered how much i actually loved the first part. this part did absolutely not disappoint.
the worldbuilding is incredible, and what i think kristoff does really well is that he puts hints for every little storyline so multiple times the story suddenly clicks and you’re just like
